Help me?

I'm trying to think of this movie. Black and white. I'm imagining that it starred Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, but I'm really not sure. It's set during WWII.

All I remember is one scene where the male lead is dictating a letter to the female lead, his secretary, and it's all code. Something like "I went for a walk on the beach and saw two dozen seabirds and a trout battalion."

The secretary points out that his code is weak and he should make it something more fanciful. He lamely attempts to deny that he's sending a coded communication. She says he should talk about walking through your garden and seeing two dozen rose bushes and a bunch of posies. Seabirds and trout are too obviously references to bombers and U-boats. And he gives in.

I know this is a very very famous movie but... it's old and old movies are boring. Does anyone know who the movie starred for sure, or what its title was, or any definite quotes that I can google for? I tried googling on all the phrases I was *sure* were in the movie, but maybe no one has quotes posted for it (or maybe I'm getting everything wrong).

Edit: My revisionist memory strikes again. Shining Through (1992) starring Michael Douglas and Melanie Griffith.
